Yiorgos Bellapaisiotis (Designer/Composer)
Yiorgos Bellapaisiotis is from Nicosia, Cyprus. He is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York. He is a recipient of the Silver Thimble Award by DKNY and two Gold Thimble Awards by Cynthia Steffe and the known Hollywood costume designer, Donald Brooks. His work has been presented at the City Corp Center in New York City (where he presents the first ever knitted gown made out of recycled yarn, from plastic and glass bottles) and the Paris Mode in France. He is the winner of the 2nd Prize at the Pan-American Jasco knits Competition. Yiorgos was given the opportunity to present his creations next to well known designers such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Todd Oldman, Oscar de la Renta and Betsey Jonson.
American, Canadian and European magazines have published and reviewed his work including “The New York Times” and the front cover of the “London Sunday Times” Newspaper.
He designed the costumes for various shows in New York and abroad and has worked next to British Designer Alexander McQueen on his Spring 2000 collection presented in New York, also with the Haute Couture fashion house Koos Van Den Akker and with the Japanese Designer Akira.
Yiorgos is also the Creative Director of Music Candy and has composed music exclusively for the BBC Radio1 and Radio4 and his compositions have been published around the world by major publishing companies such as EMI Music Publishing in Asia, EMI Music Publishing in Scandinavia, Musique et Music in France, Los Angeles Post Music in the USA, Sakura Notes in Japan, Sonoton Music in Germany and many other territories.
His songs (Pop, Pop/Rock, R&B, Ballads, World, Pop/Classical Crossover) have been released and published by SONY/BMG Records in The Netherlands, BMG Music Publishing in Holland, Heaven Music in Greece, SONY Music Publishing in Greece, My Way Music in Denmark, EMI Music in Latvia, Ad Lipitum in Canada, Shop For Culture in Russia and B.McMusic,Inc. in the USA.
